Bible Interpretation 2

The basic presupposition of interpretation is that the Bible is the Word of God. The Bible is not a mere book written by human authors conjuring up their own “cunningly devised fables;” but rather, “Prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (II Pet. 1:16-21). The Bible is inspired by God it is literally breathed out by God (II Tim. 3:16). Man has been blessed in these “last days” with the written and completed canon of scripture which is completely inspired by God. Man cannot know the will of God apart from the Scriptures; though he is a being created in the image of God his thoughts are not God’s thoughts. In order to think rightly about God man must have God’s self revelation which has been put forth in the Holy Scriptures; therein man learns of those great doctrines which nature alone cannot teach (ie. grace, mercy, justification, etc.).
